Why Estate Planning is Important
For some people, financial planning is mainly concerned with how best to go about building a nest egg, and how to make it last through retirement. But for many, there is a desire to ensure their estate delivers benefits beyond their own retirement, and produces a lasting legacy after they have passed.
What We Can Do For You
We can assist you with the following:
WILLS AND TRUSTS: We can work with you and your attorney to assure that your Will and Living Trust are drawn according to your wishes. It is equally important to review these periodically, especially if there are significant changes in one’s life.
PROPER TITLE ON ASSETS: Having your investments, retirement plans and insurance policies held in the proper title is of the utmost importance. Some assets may be better held in your Trust; Others may be better in an individual’s name or a Joint account; and insurance policies and annuities often have completely different suggested guidelines. It is important to have your assets in the appropriate title initially when making the investment, but also to review them from time to time.
ACCURATE LISTING OF BENEFICIARIES: You will want to properly identify and list your beneficiaries on appropriate financial documents. This would need to be done when an account is established, but should also be periodically reviewed to make sure they are consistent with your wishes.
The above are only some of the issues involved with Estate Planning. There can be significant tax issues as well as complicated legal problems if they are not done properly. It can be beneficial to work with an experienced and trusted Advisor to assist with navigating through these matters. We are here to help you.
